Generic one to one advocacy in East Sussex
POhWER provides independent one to one advocacy services available to adults living in East Sussex who are either using or are seeking to access services provided by Adult Social Care.
These advocacy services are for anyone aged 65 or over and for adults under 65 with:
- physical disabilities
- sensory impairments
- backgrounds that make it difficult to express their needs
- adults with mental health problems aged 18-65
- mental health problems; and
- for carers where the carer or the person cared for is using or seeking to use Adult Social Care services.
Independent advocates may be able to help you with a broad range of issues, but you might want them to become involved in particular situations. This could include:
- If you want to challenge a decision about whether you qualify for Adult Social Care services, or about the amount of money allocated to you as a personal budget.
- If you are involved in a 'safeguarding' procedure.
- If you need specialist advocacy support because you face barriers with communication, either because of a disability or because English is not your first language.
- If you want to make a complaint about Adult Social Care.
Referrals
To make a referral to our service please complete the self referral form or the third party referral form
- You will be told if your referral has been accepted within 5 working days
- Referrals may have to be placed on a waiting list if the advocacy case load exceeds its maximum. If this is the case we will let you know.
