Our services

POhWER services are free and confidential.

POhWER offices are open from 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday (POhWER ICAS telephone lines are also open until 7pm on Thursdays). Outside these hours there are answerphones or we can be contacted through this website.

Generic one to one advocacy, Non-Instructed Advocacy and the Empowerment services are available throughout Hertfordshire.

The Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS) is available throughout the East of England (Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk), West Midlands (Birmingham and the Black Country, Shropshire and Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire) and London.

Our Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) service is available in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, most areas of the West Midlands and Leicestershire and in London in Hackney and Waltham Forest. Please see the IMCA specific pages for more information on these services.

Generic one to one Advocacy

Information about the generic one to one advocacy service, which offers advocacy support to people wishing to access services, address issues and make complaints.

Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS)

Information about the Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS), which offers advocacy support to people who choose to make a formal complaint about the NHS.

Non-Instructed Advocacy (NIA) Service

Information about the Non Instructed Advocacy (NIA) Service, which offers advocacy support to people with learning difficulties who are not in a position to communicate their concerns directly.

Empowerment

Information about Empowerment services, which provide information to people so they know their rights and can make informed choices and be heard. This work is mainly with groups.

Prison ICAS

Information about Prison (ICAS) Independent Complaints Advocacy Service. Offering support to people who choose to make a formal complaint against the NHS.

Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Service (IMCA)
